Lucy Maud Montgomery, (always called "Maud" by family and friends) publicly known as L. M. Montgomery, (November 30, 1874–April 24, 1942) was a Canadian author, best known for a series of novels beginning with "Anne of Green Gables," published in 1908.

Maud Gonne (1866-1953) - gutsy social rights activist, actor, writer, editor, also inspiration for Irish poet Yeat's Cathleen in Houlihan (1892) and his unrequited lover, co-founder for Daughters of Erin, one of the founders of Sinn Fein, helped establish the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, formed the Women’s Prisoners’ Defence League. Her son Sean McBride won the Nobel Prize and he was one of the founders of Amnesty International.
