My Nella is now 3. We have gotten wonderful responses to her name. Sometimes we need to spell it and/or repeat it, but most people seem to think it is beautiful and haven't really ever heard it before. I love how it is unique but not "weird" and I think it will be hard to find an equally perfect name if/when we have another child.

I was named viola at birth after my paternal grandmother but became a ward of the state at 3 months of age. My middle name was nell but the state of La. gave my foster mom the name ," Nella", as the name to call me. I grew up being called Nella and also Nellie because most members in the household thought Nellie was young but as I got older I used the name Nella almost exclusively. I always wonder how many other people have my name because it is so different.
