Our daughter (b. 2009) is named Petra. Surprisingly many older people we have met in the US have never heard of Petra as a first name.

We also named our daughter Petra (b. 2009). While we're American, we discovered that it's not uncommon in Germany and parts of Eastern Europe. We have several German friends who were surprised we named her that; they consider it to be a uniquely Germanic name.
