I would be interested in knowing when my name (Serenity) started appearing. I looked at a census that seems to think the name started in 1999 but I am a good bit older than that and I know other Serenity's-one or two even older than I am. One is not from the U.S. and the other (of the older ones) lives in Oregon. I know our parents never met (just from our interest in our own name) so where did the idea for the word to become a name start?

Meaning no offense to you or your parents, but if you were born in the "hippie era," it is possible that your name was derived from the adjective "serinity" meaning peace and grace. Names like yours were very popular, along with other happy emotions (Kharma, Sundance, etc) and nature things (like Heath, Forrest, etc). To be perfectly fair, your name has a very amiable meaning, so perhaps your parents just liked the meaning. Did you ever ask? I'm sure they know why they named you Serenity. If not, I'm a fan!

Serenity is a brand of a) Adult diapers for incontinence and b) a line of tampons and pads.
