Personal experiences with the name Sydney: | Edit

I have been a Sydney since 1973 when no girls had this name. I only knew of one woman with the name and still remember her - a zookeeper at the San Diego Zoo. Sydney Donahue I think - in case you are out there! I loved growing up with a totally original name and didn't mind being call Mr since it's a boys name!

it is a family name for us the orginal holder was my Great Grand mother named after her father, now my daughter has it - being passed through the family as a family name. it keeps popping up but rarely with the female line - my Sydney is proud to be sydney and will not be syd or any othe version. With a cool surname she is truly a sydney - you will always be remembered. great name.

I knew a girl called Sydney and she copped so much flac for it (she was living in Brisbane at the time). In Australia, Sydney is not used for a name of a child, just the place. It's also they case with Adelaide and Victoria, they sound really bogan
