Pronounced TA-muh-ruh. Common Japanese surname. Since I am blond with blue eyes, it is a conversation starter. Other name considered for me was Tamzen, which I don't like.

My name for 52 years. I would not ever change it. Often mispronounced as ta-MOO-ra. When corrected, TA-muh-ruh, people usually compliment it. 50% of people try to shorten it to Tammy or leave out the middle syllable (Tam-ra). People rarely forget my name when meeting me again.
