My name is Tara and i love it because i have only met a few people named Tara also. Maybe 2-3. I do get a lot of confusing about pronouncing and spelling it but thats ok. I have had people spell my name as terra, tera, tarra and the normal spelling of tara. I think its a great name although there aren't any real nicknames for it. :J

My husband and I have been together for 10 years and at a birthday party we met a Tar---ah, my husband starts saying that is the only way the name should be pronounced. He had never told me before that he thought my name was a "fake"!!! I told him my name is pronounced both ways and to prove it later I pulled out an unopened copy of the DVD,Gone with the Wind, which I planed to watch eventually, made him watch the whole 3 hours and 53 minutes with me, even after Tara was said more than 10 times within the first few minutes(the way my name is pronouced)......I had been putting off watching that movie forever but the right time finally came..............It was a nice change from all of the horror films he likes...
