Why did you make fun of the names Robyn and Anne? It seems you did the very thing that you are accusing them of doing.
When you decided to use a name you made up, you are bound to get comments. It's natural. It's a different name from what they had heard before. If you love the name, that's all that should count. Everyone has opinions on names. That is normal.
I don't think you should be afraid of using the name Simon. It's a wonderful name. I don't know any children, or adults for that matter, with the name Simon. Maybe it's not popular in the north.
Congratulations!
I've always thought of Emerson as a boy's name. Maybe I'm not with it anymore.
I like Zoey a lot, but without the y. But that is just me.

Karrie - the spellings you have given would also change the pronunciation of the name.

I agree with you Esther. I was thinking the same thing.
I like Quinn and Harper the best. My second choice - Grace and Maizie. You've made a great list.
I like Clara or Matilda. Both are lovely.
How about Rosa?
I forgot to log on. :)
I like Grace and Maizie. I think they sound very sweet together.
I really love the name Isaac. That would be my choice.
I like your choice of Claire. It's always been a favorite of mine.
I like Nathan for a boy.
