No she wasn't. We we're actually asked that at the hospital by one of the nurses. Brooklyn was the name dh and I had really liked and there just happened to be the Brooklyn D0dgers at one point.
Merritt is new. I haven't heard that before. Merrick also sounds cool. We like Zane but it has already been used. Travis is a good suggestion too. We like Levi but I stated a couple posts above that we can't use it because of the middle name Lee. Ezra is a little to old for Husband.
I'm leaning towards the idea of going in with Alice, Anneliese and Lila and choosing one of those names and pairing it with Pearl. Brooklyn doesn't go by Brook at all. We call her Ruby a lot.
If baby #2 turns out to be a boy, we don't plan on using Silas. It is tradition in Husband's family to give the oldest son the mn Lee, as Husband's grandpa was killed by a drunk driver. It is a sad story but they honor him by using Lee.
We like Levi, Silas, Porter, and Beau but they run together with the mn Lee and it sounds funny.
I went and looked at the U of OK roster also. I'll have to suggest some of those names to Husband. I like Bennett, Marshall, Hollis, and Bronson. We like Quentin, Gideon, and Wyatt too.
I love Lila Pearl also. It sounds better and better every time I say it.
It would depend upon the personality of the child. Husband comes from a family of goofball, prankster, athletic boys. They love sports and want "tough" sons. It is one reason Husband loves the name Charger. My worry is that what if we have a boy that doesn't turn out to be sporty!? What if he loves books or science or butterflies. I assume he will love sports just because Husband and I love sports and both are really active, but you never know!
The names Silas, Alice and Anneliese sound similar, you're right. Dang...Alice Suzanne and Anneliese Suzanne do run together. Alice Pearl does have a slight lisp. I'll have to find some way to work those names into other names.
Husband seems to like Malia and Lila. I know that the traditional way to pronounce Lila is (LEE-la) but we would pronounce it (LYE-la.) I assume that we will have to do some correcting but it isn't a big deal to me.
Lila Pearl?
I want it to pop like Brooklyn Ruby does.
And we're still going nowhere with boy names. Husband continues to suggest University of Oklahoma Football player names. :)
I will definitely take these names to them! I see the Bell-tone name trend in the names now. That is such an interesting trait that they share. Is Trent a Bell-tone? He is my dad's son from a previous marriage and so my mom had no part in naming him.
I definitely feel like it is a unisex name. But if I saw it on a list for like a soccer team or a class roll I would probably guess boy. Especially with Indiana Jones.
I know one other anneliese and she is 20? I don't think she would have any other Anneliese's either. And I feel the same way about it stylistically not matching Brooklyn. But I love it! :)
It's pronounced Meec-um or I guess Mee-cum.
Husband suggested a name today. I jump on his interest in any names.
Mecham Lee
Mecham is an old family surname from my side. Does it sound too weird as a first name? I've always loved the name Mecham too.

Oops that was OP!
No, Alistair isn't really our style.
What's the pronounciation for Alistair? I guess I could look it up lol.
And I'm not a fan of how close Brighton is to Brooklyn.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Ha funny you mention this...
My aunt is named Sandy, her sister is Candy, and Sandy's husband is Randy. :)
We aren't a fan of Tobias, and bil is Toby which is too close imo.
Love that last sentence, "You are trying to avoid your child's name seeming like a brand."
It definitely feels like that with some names! We like Quentin, Gideon, and Wyatt too.

I should suggest Octavian! That would be awesome!
Oh I love Ariadne and Kalliope!

Thanks Ditta!
Eric and Philip are great names but have already been used in extended family. I think Philip is a great name. Any names similar to Philip?
Great suggestions zoerhenne!

@Karen- I hadn't even noticed that it sounds like Kailey. Good catch!
Not sure if these are repeats but here is what I found...
Boy
Atticus, Holden, Gatsby, Phineas, Aslan, Cash, Rhett, Oliver, Nicholas, Frederick, George, Edward, Henry
Girl
Jane, Lily, Josephine, Aurora, Lara, Audrey, Rosalind, Bianca, Juliet, Harriet, Lydia
