I am appreciating all the feedback on our names! We have chosen to keep our names we like a secret from all of our friends and family. Unfortunately our family goes beyond helpful criticism and moves to flat out rude and irrelevant comments. To add to the question (it may help), my husband is Norwegian and I am Italian. But we do have a VERY Scandinavian last name. Would that make the decision different for you between Freya and Fina? Thanks again!

I find this very interesting...I know absolutely nothing about the gaming world. The last video game I have played was Mario Cart ( : So this is very informative. I never post on here, but I really need some help! I am having a baby girl in less then 6 weeks and we have 2 names that we are going between and can't seem to choose. Its between Fina (fee-na) Freya Thank you for your input!

Okay...so now I have read through about half of the posts ( hehe I fall so behind) @monicaj: I like Holly best, but would go for Jane for the middle name because the l's n Holly and Louise seem to run togather. I also like hattie...but not a big fan of Harriet...it personally reminds me of Steve Urkel. Re the name Spring: Thats funny that you never hear that of all the seasons because I actually know 4 differnt Springs at varrying ages. One of them has sisters Autumn and Summer...over kill imo. @Becky-Congrats I have always loved the name Tzipporah but have never been brave enough to seriously consider using it. @KRC-Wow! How bold of a stranger to basically insult your name of your already born baby. Most people wont say anything about a name once the baby is actually born. @Empathy-Awesome that you got DH to agree to a name and have that settled. Naming is so tough even just on your own without throwing another person's opinions into the mix. @Betsy2- I have to laugh...my husband is the same way. You can read them lists of names and they will hate them one minute...a little time goes by and they are re-suggesting them to you like they came up with the idea. The funny part is I really think that they think they did ( :

What is everyone's thoughts on the name Cosette for a little girl? This is normally so not my style, but for some reason lately I am liking the sound of it...although that could all come crashing down once I tell DH ( : Thanks for your input. Congrats to the winners! Jill & Kendra.

Oh my I sure do get behind on here...I read everything and then I think oh I will respond tomorrow and then I am behind 50 posts! I need to get better at keeping up! I have a question for all you naming pros ( : Could you give me some good names that compare to the same style and feel as Sloan(e) for a girl name. I like that name in theory but I am not sure I actually like the name. I could use some suggestions! I appreciate the help. Also, what are your thoughts on the name Sloane)?

I completely agree with this for the most part. I love 2 of my great granparents names...the other not so much I find them to be kind of boring Robert William " Bob" and Elsie...I guess Elise isn't that common just not my style. I personally would not like to see names like, my own ( Amanda ) Chelsea,Britney, Amber..all the names so over used while I was in school that all throughout you went to school with at least 3 or 4 of them at a time. Nothing wrong with those names just so over done in my era that I am tired of them. I have another question for you all...I am still working on my girl name list ( its not going that well). My husband really likes the name Mischa..I am unsure of it. What are your thoughts on this name?

I didn't get to do the name poll this year but I agree that some of the twilight names seem to be taking a jump. But I bet that we will see names like Alice, Rosalie and Jasper jump more significantly in 2010 than in 2009. I also just found out that one of my close family members is pregnant too and is due about 2.5 weeks behind me ( : Its exciting but, I am a little jealous that she is already ahead of me in my naming process when it comes to girls. I am still so stuck...plus a terrible thing happend and my family found out one of the 2 girl names on my list which makes me so mad, so I am even more hesitant then before you use it. So now I have 0 girl names on my list! I could use some more suggestions! I like shorter names usually about 2 syllables that will go well with our Norwegian last name. I like someone's suggestion of Lula ( : Its my Grandmas name, and I would love to use it however my aunt who has been having major fertility problems wants to name her daughter that and I would feel to guilty taking that name from her. Even though its likely she will never have a kid sadly. Girl names I had liked that are now most likely not happening are Fina and Elin ( Ee-Lin). Thank you for your help again in advance. Also...sorry I can't remember which one of you it was now but I like Nicholas with the nn cole for you. Cappy could be cute also but it defintely seems more like a nickname to me!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! You had a lot of good ones. I say Elin -Ee-Lin. The 4 letter thing is just a coincidence. I just think that shorter names sound better with our last name. I don't know exactly what my girl style is. I think in general I want my baby to have a name that's spunky, offbeat ( I am really turned off by names in the top 100 in the US) Basically, my husband and I both as kids and now have big personalities. We are both very opinionated and speak our minds ( ; So I want a name for my girl that fits that agenda! Also, I have such a common name Amanda...and all through school had to be Amanda S. So the last thing I want is for my kid to have to deal with that same thing. My husband was the opposite his name is Johan so very uncommon and he has loved it. Also, I like scandinavian names yes but I don't want them to be too Scandinavian because I am Italian and look very italian so I need a name that would work for a very fair blonde child or a dark haired olive skinned baby. Again thank you all for your suggestions! Keep em coming I love it!

ssr- I don't think that the name Lila will jump in popularity too much that you should worry. I feel like it will be at the same status as what Owen was. Also, I have never heard of or met anyone with this name at any age. I actually really like the combo Lila Claire, then you could use both of your names. Unless of course you would rather wait and "save" the name Claire for a possible future daughter! Good luck with everything!

I posted this once already...but realized it was on an older blog so I am posting again here! Thanks for your help! I am brand new on here and need some advice! I am 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. We have a couple of boy names we like ( Otto and Kobe) but I am completely stuck when it comes to girls. In the past I have really loved the name Fina , once I got pregnant my husband decided he liked it...but now it just doesn't feel right to me. The name I have fallen in love with is Elin ( yes like Tiger's wife) however my husband refuses to use it because he doesn't want anyone calling our baby Ellen. Those are literally the only 2 names on my list and while other names are pretty they just don't "feel right". Our last name is very long and very Norwegian and ends in an O. The only other girl name I like but could never use because it my moms dogs name is Pheonix. Please help me I am so stuck and could really use some great suggestions from all you namers. Thank you in advance!
