Funny I have a girl Rowyn (the y I thought made it more feminine and it went with her sister Jocelyn ) and I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and my first boy and we are naming him Finley.

I also have a Jocelyn and a Rowyn. So people confuse me and Jocelyn all the time.  Lol

I am 25 and my name is Caitlin.  I actually went to high school with several Caitlins. It was very popular in the late 80s early 90s. Its become popular for younger kids being spelled with the Lyn on the end of it.

Well in fairness, all names are essentially made up. Names were not written on stone and said this is what people are to be called.  Lol

Uhm it's not incorrect. There was a reason we decided to spell it that way. But we are having a boy, so it doesn't matter in the long run. Its beautiful both ways.

Nooo my 2 year old is Rowyn!  I never thought it would become popular!  I don't want her to have a strange name, but again I don't want her to share the name with 20 kids at school!

I inadvertently made my girls have the yn theme. Jocelyn is 4 and Rowyn is 2. I didn't do it to start a theme, but I liked the y in Rowyn to make it look more feminine.  Well now I'm pregnant with baby #3 and if it's a girl hubby picked Viviyn. So yeah theres that. Lol

Funny! I am pregnant with baby #3 and if it's a girl, we're naming her Viviyn Elinore.

In Response to Initial issue?

My husband's initials are BSM . I call him Backstreet Man lol but also typically it's just BM which most people know as Bowel Movement lol. Most people don't pay attention to it. My youngest initials are REM so everyone jokes and says I got it from the band lol .

Everyone thinks I'm crazy how obsessed with names I am. I have always loved names. Since we have had Internet (when I was 15) I was searching everyone's names for the meanings. Its weird to me that people have no idea what their names mean! Name meanings are most definitely a factor for a name choice as well. As a teenager I had names picked for future kids, and I actually named my oldest a name I loved in high school! I currently  have 2 daughters who are 4 and 2 and I CONSTANTLY think of names for another baby, even though I don't plan another for some time. I have to be prepared!

My name is Caitlin. I love my name, and have never disliked it. But now that everyone and their momma are using it as a household name it gets on my nerves.  If I introduce myself to someone I get jokes often like "heh like Caitlyn Jenner!" Thanks, but I was named that first.  Lol

I named my youngest daughter Rowyn Elise. Her older sister is Jocelyn Elaina. When I was first thinking of names for my second I was going through several names thst were rising in popularity (Aria and Charlotte) that I wasn't sure if I would be happy with. I had Rowan for a boy from the beginning.  I loved it when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. But for a girl I was struggling with what I liked.  I kept flip flopping back and forth. I had the name Irelyn Claire and I was IN LOVE it. But after careful obsessing I realized that all 3 names (our last name as well) were 6 letter. I would have never been happy with that even if it was something silly and I was never happy with any other spelling of Irelyn or Claire. Everyone loved the name Rowan and my coworker said she thought it would be pretty for a girl. I sat and wrote it a few times. I liked it with a y for one because it went with Jocelyn, and 2 it looked a touch more feminine to me. I decided. I like it. I'll stick with it. I decided to use Elise for her middle name because I have always liked it as well and it went with Elaina.  Well she's nearly 2 now, and a few times I have had naming remorse. I found out when she was about 9 months old my mom hated the name. It made me super upset and I thought maybe she (Rowyn) would hate me for naming her that. But as she has gotten older and her personality has blossomed, the name fits her to a T! Plus, it means red headed one and she's a redhead! Which I never expected.  Her daddy is a blonde and I have darker brown hair. Her sister is also a blonde. Now my issue with her name is mainly is that if I have another girl I have to continue the yn ending names and El middle names. Lol
