Great suggestions! I like Augustus and Frederick. Both have good nicknames, and I have a family friend who passed away named Freddie that I would not mind honoring. We might be a little too meek to try Augustus, it seems like quite a name to live up to.
I'm glad you're with me on how pretty Agatha is. I think it's more elegant that Agnes, and fits in with the very popular "a" ending of many girls' names. Cordelia always make me the of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Margaret is a family name of a person we're not as interested naming after. I don't like Ginevra, not sure why. And Matilda has great nicknames, but I personally don't like names that end in the "duh" sound.
Your point about the vowel sounds is something I hadn't considered for alliteration. Right now we aren't in love with any H first names, but I do like Hugo. I'm not sure I would want to rhyme with Theo or go for alliteration, especially since I'm not in love.
I love Solomon for a boy, but I first heard it on Sister Wives, and I don't know if I can do three syllables
