Make sure your husband has a list of names too - if only one of you is making suggestions it's much harder to find common ground IMO.

You might find an online baby names compromise tool like this one useful to get suggestions you both will like:

Have you considered using an online baby name compromise tool like this one?

http://www.babynamester.com/compromise/settle/babyname/disagreement

It might generate some ideas that you both like. Also, if you could each understand the style that each of you have, maybe you could find names that check both boxes (like the overlap part of a Venn diagram).

If all else fails, you could make use of middle names, or agree that the one that compromises more for this baby name gets more sway over the next (assuming that you plan on having more kids).

Good luck!

You each plug in your lists and it will make suggestions.

Good luck!

In Response to Initials RPM awkward?

100% agree. I wouldn't worry about it.

Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it at all. The outer reaches of the top 100 are less common than you think. Doing some quick research, fewer than 1 out of 500 boys were named Max in 2012. He might not even know another Max growing up. Back in the 80's (when I was growing up), the popular names were much more popular than they are now. There's been a lot of fragmentation since then, so even a #1 overall name like Jacob in 2012 only accounts for 1 out of 100 boys.

My advice: if you like the name, pick it and don't look back.
