@arwhyn i am pretty sure the 2005 edition does not exist anymore but bc the publisher didn't update the information like the isbn number it still displays as the 2005 edition... very confusing. Maybe Laura can weigh in?

For whatever reason, the publisher issued the new book under the same ISBN number as the old book and so on Amazon in teh promotional materials, it looks just like the old book... This page shows what the new edition looks like (note the additinal red "bubble" on the cover) http://www.babynamewizard.com/book That is the version that is availabel at my local book store...I don't think the 2005 edition is available new anywhere anymore.

Miriam and Awkward Turtle, I wrote about the Celine Dion twin names yesterday on NameCandy. http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2010/10/29/c%C3%A9line-dions-baby-names-revealed-and-they-sound-sort-of-familia Nelson eddy was my first thought, too. But in terms of being a "match" for Rene-Charles, tehy are all namesakes, so that is the theme.

I posted this on NameCandy.com today about a new celebrity baby name I think will be loved by NE's. Do you agree? http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2010/10/30/a-celebrity-baby-name-that-name-enthusiasts-can-love

oh, Patricia... it's slightly similar to a couple of recent Name Lady columns Will This Name Doom My Baby? http://www.namecandy.com/name-lady/2010/10/18/will-this-name-doom-my-baby and Can I Name My Baby After the Bad Guy? http://www.namecandy.com/name-lady/2010/10/04/can-i-name-my-baby-after-the-bad-guy

Ok, Guest, I did a MatchMaker search on your husband's faves but limiting it to names that are not so popular currently and then I did a MatchMaker search on Cecilia but told it to avoid Italian... here are some names that came up (with a couple of spelling variations) on both lists: Helena Naomi and here are some other suggestions that came up separately but which I thought seemed like possible middle grounds... I also thought you could put in Kathryn and Leona, but since Leona was a namesake, I wasn't sure... Emilie Ingrid Marina Annalise Carina Elisabeth Camille Corrine Antonia

In Response to Name Spotlight: Sawyer

Curious whether the word "sawyer" was an american-ism for "saw yer" as in "I saw yer tree thar under the current" or reference to fallen trees were sawed. ?

1) Re names popular with NEs vs general public -- There was a Name Lady post over on AOL ParentDish last week following most looked-up names on BabyNameWizard.com http://www.parentdish.com/2010/04/05/trend-report-the-hottest-baby-names-of-2010/ You can compare that to the SSA most popular names. 2) @kalmia Ben Lee and Ione Skye just chose Priya for their daughter's middle name http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/search/baby/priya http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2009/09/29/new-baby-alert-ione-skye-and-ben-lee-welcome-goldie-priya

Leah, You could try Lila or Leila -- Laura thinks the long I sound is the rising sound of the future and there was a spate of celebrities who chose similar sounding names in the fall. And of course, there's the "name of the future" Ily. :) And FWIW, my ex-husband and I could only agree on one name when DD was born 12 years ago -- having been a Jennifer, I felt that Isabel was Jennifer of this generation... A lot of NEs are predicting that Isabella will be #1 this year... But my daughter Isabel (nn Izzy by her choosing) is unique and special regardless of how "overused" the name may be. JB

FWIW, on my mac, it's much faster to load and less quirky on entering names than the old version

Re: Office baby -- Lane and I have been posting over at Laura's other site -NameCandy.com about the office baby name http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2010/03/05/office-baby-name-cecelia-marie and http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2010/03/04/the-office-baby-names @kakicloud -- what is your source for that information regarding how they picked the name - I would love to add it to our information -- or please post a comment on NameCandy! Re: Stella Luna, actress Ellen Pompeo named here baby Stella Luna.. see : http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/baby/stella-luna-pompeo-ivery http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2009/09/23/new-baby-alert-ellen-pompeo-welcomes-stella-luna

In Response to Hey Judas

Off topic, but there's a little quiz/game going on on the NameCandy.com celebrity baby names blog at http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2010/01/14/new-baby-alert-jillian-barberie-reynolds-welcomes-rocco-rio-plu I am completely stumped and it's driving me crazy... if you know the answer, can you please post in comments over there (or here if that's easier) Thanks!

Linnaeus, too bad this site is only a couple of years old, otherwise your mashup name (Enron) could have had a shot at being Name of the Year in 2001. :)

In Response to The name stands alone

Happy Thanksgiving, NEs! Just thought I would share two fun Thanksgiving-related stories from Laura's other site, NameCandy.com Pilgrim Names http://www.namecandy.com/name-lady/2009/11/25/beyond-john-and-priscilla-surprising-names-of-the-mayflower-pilgrims Spice Names http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2009/11/26/which-state-likes-the-spiciest-names And @annabanana the system only allows unique usernames - so you either need to be logged in with your registered name (use the little login button on the top right) OR if you use the comment as guest function (which requires a Captcha), you need to use a different name. (I hope that makes sense!)

LOL, Jillc. Yours would be Renaesme, so it would be more unique and not have any of the negative connotation. :)

I always loved the name Esme, but thought it was too closely associated with teh J.D. Salinger story "For Esme with Love and Squalor." Maybe Esme Cullen will neutralize that single association?

Just thought I would point out the coincidence that Robert Pattinson who plays the Vampire Edward in the Twilight series, pleyed Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter series. Also, Twilight fans can find more Twilight name stories over at Laura's other site, NameCandy.com http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2009/11/20/new-moon-the-vampire-names-of-twilight and http://www.namecandy.com/celebrity-baby-names/blog/2009/11/17/team-edward-vs-team-jacob
