Wow, thank you so much everyone for the suggestions, we've gotten some really good ones that I haven't thought of, or didn't give enough consideration. I'll be sure to report back when we finally do pick a name. I'm sorry to have gotten so behind on individual replies, but I really appreciate everyone taking the time to offer advice.
I think Eve/Eva is great, I keep pushing for Evangeline, and then we could call her those nicknames, but its not going over that well with the husband. I like Elle a lot too, and it has the same sound as Belle, but without the Bella issues. A lot of people have suggested Alice, its one I'll have to think about too, I hadn't really considered it before. Thanks for your suggestions!
Oh man, that's makes me feel a lot better about the idea of June. I like Belle too, but all my family does not seem to like it. I kind of wish we had never mentioned it, but it didn't even occur to me people wouldn't like the name, we liked it so much.
May is definitely on the table, although my husband and I are split on how to spell it, I prefer May, he prefers Mae. I'm a big fan of Eve/Eva too! I like seeing these suggestions, it makes me feel like we're on the right track.. thanks!
Thanks Liz! The more I think about it, the more I think maybe Belle would be an ok choice... I like a lot of your suggestions as well! Going to run the list past the husband tonight :)
Clara is another one that I like, husband, not as much. Alice is one I'm warming up to as well. Kate is a great name, but its also my sister's name, so that one is definitely out! Thanks for your suggestions!
First off, I hope you come back to us to report what you choose, with your due date so close!
I love the name henry as well, and I have just recently reached the 'who cares' state about popularity of names (although in my heart of hearts, I still do care a little!) so I know what you are going through.
My family might be unusual in this, but we have a lot of family members that go by their middle names, if that doesn't sound like a bad idea then you could have....
I had the same problems as you for my first baby (who wound up being a girl)! I really like the girl names you picked out. My suggestions; Rowan, Dudley, August, Kiernan, Warren.
I do think having it as a middle name would be nice... that's a good idea, too! I agree that they are different sounding names, but I think most people would mishear it as Bella, and then on top of that, her last name is also a name that people mishear/mispronounce (swapping places of two letters in it makes it into a common word, and its a mistake pretty much everyone makes all the time) -- so I don't want her to have to constantly be correcting people on her first and last name. That happened to me growing up and it was embarassing.
For me, Ruby, well, I think its an ok name, but to my ears, its still old-fashioned sounding. There are a lot of names I like, but wouldn't want to use, which is making this a lot harder to decide what to do!
June is another one my husband and I both were drawn to immediately, but the baby is due in July. Do you think that would be weird? I couldn't make up my mind on it.
I like Zoe and Ivy a lot, but Ivy falls under the botanical issue, which my husband is very, very against, maybe as a middle name would work, though. I like Emma too, and I recently saw something about Estelle as a name, which I thought was nice, I like the -elle sound. Thanks for the suggestions and input!
