Thanks everyone! Good things to consider here!
Thank you for your response. That is what I was hoping we could "get away with" - using it as a alternative spelling of Aria, I just don't know how I feel about intentionally mis-pronoucing an existing name if that is in fact what we would be doing.
Thank you for your response. I should claify that my husband doesn't really hear any real difference in the two pronuncations, thus he doesn't mind if certian "accents" are differnt from person to person. He feels either way is pretty much the same thing, however I'm worried it's us specifically that are making both sound similar. He feels he is pronouncing it Ar-yah but it still really sounds a lot like Ar-ie-yah which is what I have liked all along.
As a side note, I've just found talk of a St. Aria in Italy that is celebrated on Aug. 21st. Being Catholic and due Aug. 27th, I'm very interesting in using the Aria spelling if she would happen to be born on Aug. 21st. I think that would seal the deal for me! However, it seems this is not a much noted saint and may not even have any historical background as I can not find much information on her at all.
Thank you for your response. I have to admit this connection never occurred to me.
