In Response to Help with name for DD2

Thanks! I like that the name Anna has "held steady" as you say. I think it makes it less likely to shoot up the charts. I'd just like to stay out of the top 20 really. I'm afraid Annabel might follow the path of Isabelle.

Thanks for your input! It's funny that your post mirrored my thoughts so closely. Over the past couple of weeks, I've really fallen so much more in love with the name Anna. While I find Annabel cute and fun, my husband and I are now thinking that Anna is perfect for us. Our dd#1's name is Claire, and we feel like Anna is timeless and classic like Claire. I love the combo Anna Claire! It's also nice to hear that you call her Annie and Anna so naturally. I'm hoping to still use Annie at least some. The name Anna has really grown on me though, and I imagine I'll use it just as much if not more. Crazy how names can sneak up on you! It's also crazy how much my mind has changed over this pregnancy! Do you call your daughter Anna Claire or just Anna? I'm thinking of either Anna Kate (maybe Katherine) or Anna Juliet. While I think Anna Kate is cute, I don't love the name Katherine/Catherine, and I adore the combo Anna Juliet right now. Anyhow, thanks so much for your advice! It's really helpful hearing from people who use the name. Do you meet a lot of little Annas?

Thanks for your input! This is why I'm so torn! While Anna is classic and pretty, I'm not sure if its enough for me. But Annabel may be a little over the top for our style. And you're right that an Annabel may not fit everyone. I was kinda hoping the nickname options (Annie, Anna) would help solve that problem. Sometimes I feel like just starting from scratch with my name list though!

That's too funny. Oddly enough, my toddler loves the name Annie too. She keeps saying it. I LOVE the combo Anna Kate! Anna is really such a pretty classic. Do you meet a lot of other Annas?

I really like Anneliese. But then, I'm a fan of most Ann names (Except plain Ann oddly enough). Middle name suggestions for Jana:

Jana Katherine

Jana Caroline

Jana Claire

Jana Alice

Jana Elizabeth

I like Jana Mae!

Thanks! I've always liked Annabel too. Honestly, I never considered it before because I didn't think my husband would like it. I was shocked when he said, "I like that". And Annelise was a good suggestion. Just too close to dd#1's middle name.

That doesn't sound weird at all. I appreciate your opinion!

thank you! What a great list of suggestions! I thought I'd seen them all. Off your list, I like Liliana and Juliana the best. They are both already taken by friends or family though. I'm glad to see a positive vote for Annie :). It just makes me happy to picture a baby named Annie.

Thank you! Glad to hear another person suggest that Annie is a natural nn for Anna. Also, glad to hear that Annabel is not too popular everywhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think you're right that we just need to pick the name we like best. The problem right now is that I cant decide. He definitely prefers Annabel, but I think I could win him over to Anna. I just don't want to do all that name campaigning if I'm not set on it!

Thanks! That's kind of what I was thinking. A longer name would give her more options. But if she comes out and looks like an Anna to me, I'll name her just Anna. I keep hoping she'll come out looking like a definite Annie or Anna, but that's probably not going to be the case!

It's funny that most people on here think that Annie is an intuitive nn for Anna. I'm glad to hear it. I would have thought that too before talking to others about it. It seems that most people I've spoken to think an Annie has the formal name of Ann/Anne, Annie, or a longer version (Anastasia, Annabel, etc.) I guess it's that Anna and Annie are the same number of syllables? Johanna is a pretty name but just not my style for some reason. Maybe it's the "Jo" part. I'm not completely sure if Annabel is my style either, but it seems fun to me. I tend to go for the more classic, even one syllable names, like Jane, Claire, etc. But something about Annabel appeals to me. I'm also really starting to love Anna, but my husband prefers Annabel. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the advice! Annelise is gorgeous. Unfortunately for us, it's way too close to DD #1's middle name (Elise). @story behind the name- I feel the same way about the options the longer names give us. While I want to call her Annie, I want to give her the freedom to change it to Anna as she's older. Good luck! I'll be interested to see what you decide.

@Tirzah- That's interesting that Annabel is so popular where you are! I've never heard it on anyone I know. I was mostly concerned it was trendy because of the belle on the end. I'm hoping the "Annabel" spelling will help with that somewhat (as well as the fact that we plan to call her Annie).
