Victor (nn Vic)
Ruben (nn Ben or Ru)
All unusual names, but classic, easy to spell and short. Our son's name is Victor, for what it's worth, and we switch back and forth between Vic and Victor all the time when we're talking to him or about him.
Nocona, for a boy. It's a Comanche name, it means traveler or wanderer, and it's so strong and musical, I love it. But we're not Comanche. It's not for us.
The VD piece didn't bother us - he has my maiden name as a second middle, so his initals are VDMV, and there does seem to be a big generation gap as far as VD goes - no one our age or younger thought of it because STD has replaced it. Adrian is a lovely suggestion, though!
