Personal experiences with the name Alma

In most communities, Alma is unquestionably a girl's name. In Latter-day Saint communities, it is more often encountered as a boy's name.

One must wonder whether this causes trouble to the boys as they get older and encounter more and more expectation of them being girls from the wider world.

In at least one case I know of, an Alma chose to go by his (also unusual) middle name instead, just to stop being thought of as a girl when he emailed people.
