Braoin is a Gaelic name meaning “sorrow, saddness.” Brennan is also an English surname and is evolved from the Old English Burnand (burned hand). The name makes reference to the medieval practice of burning the hands of those caught breaking the law. Var: Brennand, Brennen.

We named our son Joseph Brennan, my husband and I chose it because he had an old paramedic partner named Brendon. We both loved that band but wanted it a little diffrent, we call my son BrenBren, Brenn, B. The only issue with the name is the confusion, he gets called Brandon a lot. The name means prince.
