I have a son named Finnegan. Finnegan is family surname. We did have some 'are you sure?' comments when I was pregnant but not many; I have had nothing but rave reviews since and even a comment by a pregnant stranger that she was putting the name on her list. The main negative I get is that the name is long (I always thought this comment was a bit silly though). He is a mischievous young man now (well, the name really sounds impish doesn't it? So, I suppose he grew into it) and very popular; the girls tend to love his name for some reason. He goes by Finnegan or Finn - Finny is what I call him, but ONLY I am allowed the privilege.
- Personal experiences with the name Finnegan
I also have a son named Finnegan after Joyce's last novel. He isn't quite a year. When I named my son, no one had the name and everyone scoffed. Since that time, I've met 7 Finns and of course there's Glee. Isn't that always the way? Anyway, I love the name and would never change it. Also, I must agree that chicks seem to dig it. Everywhere we go, women fawn over my little blonde, blue-eyed, devilish little Finn! =-)
