One of my close friends has been dating a guy named Lancelot for about two years now. He never goes by a nickname. He's Belgian, which I thought may have been the reason to encounter such an unusual name, in Maryland of all places, but all of his siblings have very traditional names. He isn't the youngest so it isn't as if they ran out of names. He's a really relaxed, kind, smart and funny guy, though, so while I find it strange to name a child Lancelot these days, it happens and I, at least, have a positive association for the name.
