I always wanted to name my son Matthew, after someone very dear to me. Since Matthew is too common, I immediately thought to use Matthew of the Bible's birth name, Levi. Levi is too short on it's own for my taste, so I thought to myself, what could it be short for? Immediately recalled, "Leviticus!" and thought about it on a little boy and fell in love with the name. I've loved the name since I was a kid. I think it's very strong and formal, but has good nickname possibilities. This name will separate your child from all the boring trends. I'm actually surprised this name is almost never used! It's similar to the well known Levi and Atticus, you could definitely use those as nicknames if your son doesn't like his name or just wants something shorter. Maybe it's the Biblical connotations, but if Delilah can make it, so can Leviticus.
