Although Robin is thought of as a male name it is a unisex name, although I can't say I've ever met a boy named Robin.
Don't name a boy Robin! When he goes to school, all he'll hear is "Where's Batman?"
Do not name a boy Robin unless your lass name is Hood! (lol)
It's a nice name, but Robin Thicke kind of ruined it for me. But then again, there's the legend that was Robin Williams... So maybe not totally ruined. :)
It started out as a boy's name, but got taken over by the girls. I wouldn't name a boy Robin, it sounds too feminine.
It is quite predominantly a male name in Europe, and I think it is staying unisex in the USA purely on the strength of Robin Williams and Robin Hood.
- Personal experiences with the name Robin
My nana Grandmother is named Robin, I also attend university with a girl named Robin. Such a cute name, I named my daughter Robin also.
I always think of Robin as a girl's name; I can't imagine it for a boy, it sounds too feminine. But if he was called Rob for short, that wouldn't be bad, as Rob sounds very masculine.
If you like the nickname Rob, stick with Robert. Nobody names a girl Robert.
