Polish form of Stephen when i think of polish name as form english trranslation to Szczepan i think of 2 words which is in the name Szczepan 1 szczep - tribe ,pan- lord (mind you wikipedia explains 'pan' was half man half devil? goat? there is more info ) however mother word Pan means lord in polish so weh we pray we pray to our 'Pana' . o i believe name Szczepan- means tribe of the Lord which is pretty spiritual to me i like it as it is my grandpas name and I am quite a beliver must say even though i have never met my grandpa as he died after or during war .
