My mother got my name from the Sunday funnies, in the Prince Valiant strip. His wife was Queen Aleta. It was very embarrassing. Except for relatives, no one could pronounce it correctly. I got called "Aletta", "Althea", "Aletha", etc. I refuse to answer to mispronunciations of my name.
I know about the Spanish meaning, which I do not like. Once I found it in a name book, and in GREEK, it means "Truth" which I do like. That was years ago long before the internet.
