My best friend is named Amber (we are both 19 and live in the Southeast, if that helps provide context). She likes her name because it's somewhat rare (neither of us know anyone else our age named Amber), and people don't misspell or mispronounce it. So she gets the advantages of a unique name and the advantages of a common name as well. I think it would be a great choice for a little girl!
My name is Amber. Most would think that this would be an uncommon name, hey, so did I. Before entering secondary school I had only met one other Amber who referred to herself as 'Bambi', unsurprisingly she was 9 at the time. Then upon entering secondary school, I found that I was mistaken in my ignorance of believing I had a unique name; 3 people in my year were named Amber, and there was another person as well called Chloe-Amber.
Why does every name have to have a nickname?
^Because it's cute.
^Because being called your full name all the time is boring.
What would be a nickname for Amber? Am? Ham Ham?- Personal experiences with the name Amber
My favorite celebrity (Amber Mariano) is named Amber and I just love her name.
Amber was a popular name while I was in school. I was nearly always Amber 2 or had to have my last initial tacked onto the back of my name. This name seems to come with an array of annoying nicknames for whatever reason. I hated being called Amby. I got sick of being called Amber Brown in elementary school while that book was popular. Also, if one more person points at an Amber ale and tells me it's mine because my name is on it I might scream.
^ ^ me as well, it was always Amby and my sister was Ashley so it was Amby and Ashy let me tell you still hate being called Amby. Amber Brown was the least of my worries. A parent of a student told me that jewel names are all stripper names. Made me hate my name even more.My sister's name is Amber, and I think it's pretty bc it reminds me of the color amber, which is a beautiful honey color. I think it's best for a honey blonde.
