History: "Anne" is a varient of the Hebrew name "Hannah" meaning "grace." In the Bible, Hannah was mother of the prophet Samuel. Being barren, she asked God to bless her with a child, and her prayer was answered. Hence, the name literally means "God has graced me with a son." Also, "Anne" is believed to be the name of the Virgin Mary's mother. Mary's father is believed to have had the name "Joachim."
"Lise" is a varient of the Hebrew name "Elizabeth" meaning "God's promise." In the New Testament, Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist. She thought herself incapable of having children until husband Zechariah was visited by the angel Gabriel, who told him his wife would have a son who "will be great in the sight of the Lord!" And so son, John the Baptist, was born. John the Baptist was cousin to Jesus Christ.
