Boudica is the name of a Pagan British queen in the first century of the Iceni tribe of Britain.

She brought together multiple British tribes in order to fight the conquering Romans and succeeded in burning down the Roman city of Londinium, which would later become London. She was a capable general until the Battle of Watling Street against the Roman governor Suetonius. Whilst the Romans were ridiculously outnumbered, their superior training permitted them to succeed in defeating the tribespeople. It is said that Boudica and her daughters all poisoned themselves in order to avoid Roman capture. Boudica is traditionally considered to have been highly intelligent, ferocious in battle , and of in possession of thick red hair down to her hips.

There is a bronze statue of her and her daughters in a war chariot that was commissioned by Prince Albert and was completed in 1905. It stands next to Westminster Bridge and near to the Houses of Parliament.
