My name is more often mispronounced than not. Usual suspects are 'Kerry', 'Care-ey' and 'Cah-rey'. Memorably, it was transformed into 'Corey' at a school assembly when I was 14, and I was Corey from then on at school. It didn't come in for much name-teasing on its own during school years, about the worst I received was 'Curry'. (Since i'm WASP-y white, it didn't even have the potential sting of being a slight racist taunt - as teased names go, it wasn't too bad at all)
It is very rarely spelt correctly without assistance from me. I can recall only a single instance where someone has both spelt and pronounced it correctly - frankly, it was a fluke. But a hell of an entrance for someone who would become my husband 8 years later!
I usually go by my middle name these days. The constant mispronunciation, and having to spell and re-spell it out began to grate after years and years.
