Personal experiences with the name Dusti

I'm a Dusti. I hated my name growing up and went by my middle name (or a nickname for my middle name) until I was about 13.. I was about 17 when it really started to grow on me & I decided that I didn't like being called by my "nickname" or middle name anymore.. (though few people still do.) My biggest problem growing up with this name is that my middle initial is N.. So when people see my first name, middle initial they automatically misread it and assume I'm a "Dustin".. & it's a little annoying. I often get mistaken for a "Mr." quite frequently (via mail & telemarketing) as well..

I've gotten conflicting opinions from strangers about it, upon meeting them.. & I've only ever met or known of 4 other people with this name.

I always tell people who say how much they love my name & if they ever have a girl they want to name her it too, not to! When you're a kid, it's a horrible name. (& she'll probably hate them for it and hate her name like I did.)

To each their own.

I don't mind my name so much now that I'm an adult. I live in a small town & sometimes it isn't bad being the "only Dusti" anyone knows! lol
