Comments and insights on the name Jocelyne

In French, the name continues to be used for males and females. However, the male version is spelled Jocelyn and the female Jocelyne. Gender rides on that final 'e.' In Québec, the name is more associated with the baby boomers.

Personal experiences with the name Jocelyne

People have trouble pronouncing it and spelling it. The most common mispronunciation is Joycelyne, but I also get Joshlyn, Roslyn, Jasmine, and Jacqueline. There are many misspellings, but I consistently get Jocelyn. As a woman of French Canadian descent, I HATE this, because that is the male version, and I am not a man! To me, it's like writing Gabriel instead of Gabrielle or Daniel instead of Danielle.
