Julia Name Meaning & Origin
Julia
Origin of the name Julia:
Feminine form of the Latin Julius, an old Roman family name thougth to be derived from Iulus (the first down on the chin, downy-bearded). Because a person just beginning to develop facial hair is young, the definition of this name and its related forms has evolved to "youth."

- Personal experiences with the name Julia
A more sophisticated alternative to Julie, this name resounds with poise and elegance. Yet, it is certainly not so flowery and overdone as other top girl names in this generation.
a good friend of mine is named Julia Lorelei and i love it!
This is my name and I've had a love/hate relationship with it. Thankfully now I love it and I love how timeless it is. I've met people in their 70's with my name, a handful of people around my age (20's) and lots of younger kids as well.
This is my name and I don`t like most of the nick names. I hate when people pronounce it JOOL-ya, instead of JOO-lee-ah. It sounds so un-prettied... bad way to describe it anyway Jules is my most annoying nickname. If you just call me Julia, pronouncing it right, I will solely LOVE my name.My name is Julia, I am always getting told my name is old for someone my age, but still pretty. My parents decided to call me julia after a trip to Italy (their are a abundance of julia's their). I cant stand being called Julie, and often have to tell people several times to add the -a. But that has to be the only down side to the name. It also is great for spelling initiative no-one ever spells it wrong, a nice change to my unpronounceable, unspellable surname
My sister is named Julia, middle name Grace. Never had a problem with the name, love it!
