- Comments and insights on the name Lea
We pronounce it Lee-uh.
I think you are thinking of Lea (like Lia or Leah) but this name is Léa (as in Princess Leia lol). The mark above the e doesn't show up. :/
It is also pronounced 'lee' or 'lay', from the word meaning 'meadow'.
Ela and Lea are anagrams of each other; they contain the same letters.
- Personal experiences with the name Lea
My friend's name is technically Léa, complete with accent, but she hates being called Lay-uh (as in Princess Leia, if I must), so in English we ignore the accent and call her Lee-uh.
I'm from Quebec and my name is Léa, which in Canada is usually spoken lay-a but my parents didn't like that, so they called me Lee-ah. I like Lee-ah a lot better, and in America nobody ever says it wrong.
