My name is Lucinda. Growing up I hated it. My nickname is Cindi. I was named after a great grandmother. Now that I am older I am getting to like it more. But I am the only Lucinda wherever I go.
I had a similar experience growing up and not liking that my name was different. I was called Luci by my family, but now that I'm older I absolutely love my name and am glad it is unusual, which generally makes it more memorable.
I am a Lucinda, and proud to be one. My name has been passed down my family on my mother's side for at least 4 genrations, and I'm proud to carry on the name. I have to say, when i was younger i didn't really like it, but now people do comment that it is a nice name and unusual! My friends do shorten it to Lu. (I don't like Lucy, which sounds like a child's name.) My mum was called Lucinda, but somehow her name got shortened to Linda.
I belive i am true to my name's meaning. I work in a caring field and love the small things in life!
I was almost named Lucinda Rose after my grandmother, but my parents named me Kateri instead.
I, too, am a Lucinda, and two of my uncles have always called me Suzie Q. My full name is Lucinda Sue, and I have always been Cindy. At work I am Lucinda, as that is what is on the app. when I started, and it is cool to have a bit of a differant world other than life at home! As a child, I did not like to be called Lucinda, but a few of my dear friends from high school called me Lucinda and it was just how it was.
