- Comments and insights on the name Maizie
We named our daughter "Maizie" in 2006 and she is the only child in her peer group with her name. That was a goal of mine since I was named "Jennifer." There were seven "Jennifers" in my class while I was growing up. We get a lot of compliments on her name. And we have met "other" Maizies.
Maizie is an older name and a lot of books written around the turn of the century have characters named Maizie.
We decided to spell her name as it sounds. This spelling can be difficult for new people to learn. It also took our daughter a while to learn how to spell her name - too many vowels for a little person.
- Personal experiences with the name Maizie
I wanted to name our daughter Daisy after my great grandmother but my husband refused flower names. So we agreed on Maizie. I love the distinction. There isn't another one in her school. We spelled it just like it sounds so she wouldn't go thru life being called Macy.
- Nicknames for Maizie
I like to call my daughter Mai...but her friends call her Zee.
- Meanings and history of the name Maizie
What I recall about the name Margarite or Margarita in Greek is that it means "daisy". My information has no reference to the word for "pearl." Unless this comes from either Ancient or Classical Greek, I'd be happen to know which reference material the author used to add to my knowledge of Greek. Ευχαριστώ!
