- Personal experiences with the name Marina
My name is Marina, a name my dad heard while he was working in Germany while my mom was home in the states pregnant with me. I've never cared for my name. Growing up, I hated it. People ALWAYS commented on how pretty it is, how lovely, beautiful, unique. It got very tiring to hear. As an adult, I've accepted it, but it still sounds very formal the way Alexander sounds formal. It's a very rare name in the states, but much more common in parts of Europe and even Japan - you'll have a much easier time finding souvenirs with Marina on it there.
