- Personal experiences with the name Matema
I was given the name by my great grandfather when I was born in 1993. I never really liked the name, because it is old fashioned and unpopular. It said to be a name for old people (grandmothers).
Only family calls me by that name and people out of my Sepedi tribe often mispronounce it.
It is pronounced "Ma - te - ma" with a really soft "t". It is NOT pronounced 'Ma - teh - ma' or "Ma-tih-ma". Don't be hard on the "t" in the name.
