- Personal experiences with the name Matisse
My daughter is named Matisse, after the artist and we get nothing but compliments! She is a wonderfully free-spirited girl and I can't help but wonder if this is partially inspired by the name! :) Her brother's name is Dashiell, whom my husband is related to, so hopefully we will have a writer and an artist! We do get mixed reactions to Dash's name, although everyone seems to think that "Dashiell" suits his intellectual side and "Dash" suits him as a nickname as he is usually 'dashing' about. All of the people I have come across called Matiss have been kind souls, and just about good at everything. I know a Matisse that has many sporting achievements, and has generally high academia. Overall, Matisse is a splendid name and brings in positives thoughts from other people.
- Nicknames for Matisse
My best friend is named Matisse and we usually call her ‘Tisse’, the last syllable of her French name. Some people call her Mattie or Missy, but mostly ‘Tisse’ because it’s a shorter alternative. There is a fun loving and pretty girl I know that we all call Marty, even though she is a girl it is just what suits her the best.
