Nola Name Meaning & Origin
Nola
Origin of the name Nola:
Spanish pet form of Leonor, a variant of Eleanor, a cognate of the Greek Helenē (light, torch, bright). Alternatively, some believe Leonor to be a feminine form of Leonard, which is derived from the Old High German Lewenhart (brave as a lion).

- Personal experiences with the name Nola
We named our youngest Nola (a family name), and I'll admit I've had some regrets about it. When people ask her name I normally have to repeat it and often spell it out to people. I've had people say "Nala, like the Lion King?!" And other people just say "Oh...that's nice." But then when I think about it I don't feel so bad. The name itself looks beautiful and it's fun to write and most of all my daughter is a Nola, I couldn't picture her being anything else. It is a name that has a spirit in itself and I think that's awesome. We prefer uncommon, but not made up, names for our children and this is definitely one them!
