This name appears in the episode "The Baby Shower" in the first season of the TV series "Sex and the City". Shayla is the name which, as she has told all her friends, Charlotte York has always planned to name her future baby girl -- she says she invented it when she was eleven. In the episode, the name is "stolen" by a pregnant former friend who claims not to remember Charlotte having told her the story. The situation is made more poignant by the fact that Charlotte would like to be married with children but doesn't even have a boyfriend.

------------------------------------
TLDR: Shayla is the name of the girlfriend for the main character on the television series "Mr. Robot" (created and directed by Sam Esmail).
Shayla's untimely death proves to be a catalyst that pushes the main character to the brink where he is forced to take ever increasing risks just to stay alive.I created an account here just so I could comment on the fact that this website (Baby Name Wizard) is the only source that I could find that define's Shayla's name in Hebrew as a"question" you would ask a rabbi.
In Irish Gaelic, Shayla means "fairy palace."
Finally, inm Arabic, Shayla is a spelling variant of Shaila, "Little Mountin"This very interesting because other sources that I happened to see listed Shayla's name as meaning "Blind", as in "the blind one".
^(In response to the above) Research shows that Sheila means "blind" in Irish, so if you are using Shayla as a spelling variant of Sheila, its meaning would be "blind."
However, Shayla has different meanings depending on the language. A simple google search for the words "shayla" and "rabbi" help clarify its Hebrew meaning. It is a halachic question.
