1st Baby Cant Decide On Our Final List!

First baby coming in a few months.

Parents names are Sean and Emily.

Baby is a boy and the middle name is for sure going to be John.  Need some other opinions besides my annoying family members.

Here is what is left on our list.  If you have a suggestion too I'd listen to it.. but these are what we narrowed our list of 50 down to over the past few months.

Landon

Lincoln

Camden

Cameron

Callen

Are any of these names family names, or do they have other personal significance? They're very similar in style and sound, but a personal connection can catapult a name into first position, especially with surname-style names.

For example, if Abraham Lincoln is a personal hero then Lincoln would get the edge, or if Camden is mom's maiden name I would vote for that one, or if the two of you met and bonded over Little House on the Prairie episodes then Landon would be my preference.

Of course, if they all have a personal connection, then it comes down to which one is most meaningful, and which name you like the sound of best. In that case, or in case none of them have a personal connection, do you want to give us some hints about your last name? Maybe first sound, last sound, and number of syllables? I don't think first-middle matters much, since most of the time the middle name collapses into a single initial (and they all sound good with John, anyway), but first-last flow can be a good tie-breaker.

I'd echo the above poster and ask if there are any personally signiciant reasons for choosing the names that make any stand out. If not, I don't think there's anything wrong with any of them! I personally like Callen John the best, but any of them would be great choices. Congrats!

Without knowing much else my personal preference is Lincoln. It goes well with John. Lincoln John is very handsome.

I think all of these are good names, I can't see any inherent problems with any of them. Are there honestly none that you and your partner like more than the others? One or two that just make you happier on hearing them or 'feel' more like your baby.

You said you want opinions other than your "annoying family mambers" so I'm assuming you've discussed names with them and probably gotten negative feedback/vastly different opinions on a few of the names (possibly ones that were previously the ones you liked most)? If so and you are doubting your choice because of that then I would say just go with the name you love most, regardless of family opinion. This is a name that you (and your son) will be living with for a long time and it should be the name that most appeals to you; your relatives are likely to quickly get over any negative emotions once your son is actually born-or at the very least hopefully have the manners to keep them to themselves. I don't think it's worth the potential disappointment of choosing a name you like less and then regretting it.

Having said all that if you are just totally stuck between the five because you love them all I will throw my vote in for Landon, with Callen as my second favourite. And suggest that you could try using each name for a few days/a week when talking about the baby with your partner to see if there's one you like more in actual use. If you could narrow it down to two (or even three) you could wait until the baby is born because some people, once they meet the baby, suddenly find there is one of the names that just "fits" them.

I like all of your options except Camden, which is all New Jersey to me. The only other one that made me do a double take was Cameron - my mind instantly went to John Cameron (the movie producer), which isn't a bad thing but the name feels backwards to me because of the association.

I love Cameron, and nickname could be Cam, which I think is adorable. Have a cousin who names their son Cameron, and it is so cute and flows beautifully with any middle name. Just think, "Cameron John". Ahhhhhh what a nice ring...
