38 Weeks And Still No Name

Hi all,

we are not sharing baby names with anyone we know so this the way that im choosing to get some feedback.  I've always had names that i thought i would use for a girl and now that im having a baby girl im racked with uncertainty for every name i have liked. Its very daunting to me to pick a name she will have forever. Anyway, names i like are posted below. Let me know what you think. Middle name will be Jayne named after both of our mothers.

Leah- love this name but worry its too common/boring

Violet- like this name but it just doesnt roll off your tongue. I cant imagine shouting it at a t-ball game

Ruby- a new find and love, but not sure i will like forever for that reason, also not sure what husband thinks

Ruby is a new love of mine too, so sweet! And Ruby Jayne is darling -- I could see calling her by both names often. I know what you mean though, about not being sure you'll like it forever. For me, I might be concerned that it's not as weighty as I might like for a potential future President/attorney/doctor/etc. But I remember reading a while ago about a Rebecca who went by Ruby. I don't love Rebecca, but I do love that it's a substantial name, one that would fit well on an adult professional woman, and I love Ruby as a nn for it. Rebecca Jayne nn Ruby would be lovely imo.

I do love Leah too. I have no criticisms of it, and Leah Jayne sounds great together.

Ditto for Violet really. The T-ball test is funny! But I hear all sorts of girl names at my sons' baseball games, from frilly to tomboy (and as a mom of all boys, I get a kick out of seeing pink cleats and pink mitts and pink batting helmets!). Good luck!

Leah is a favorite of mine, too.  My husband doesn't care for it, otherwise it would be at the top of my list.  I think it's a lovely name and sounds very nice with Jayne...actually all three sound nice with Jayne to me :)

Violet is beautiful....probably our choice for our baby girl due in two weeks also!  I struggle a little bit with the lack of nns to choose from.  I'm not crazy about Vi or Lettie, and I agree that Violet doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as some other names.  But Violet is a family name for us and just seems like the right name for her :)

I like Ruby too, but it's probably my least favorite of these three for no particular reason.

Yes i think i would be very confident about Violet if there was a good nickname to go with it.

mentioned Ruby to my husband and surprisingly he liked it.  Ruby might be her name.

All the names are pretty. I think I like Violet best. I think it's easy to say and see no need for a nickname, but I generally don't like nicknames anyway.
