7 Weeks To Go...no Set Name.

My husband and I cannot decide on a name. We need help! We narrowed it down to either Lucas or Harrison , Nickname would be Harris as its my husband's middle name. The middle name needs to begin with 'A' after husband's grandfather Arthur. So here we go what do you prefer / think?? Any input or suggestion welcome:

Lucas Arthur

Lucas Alexander

Harrison Arthur

Harrison alexander

Harrison August

Lucas August

I prefer Lucas over Harrison, I think but it would help to know a bit about your last name.  Can you give us an idea what it sounds like so we can determine rhythm and pronunciation with the names?

Our last name is short one syllawith ginning with 'Re' we both like Henry  but realized today Henry Re...doesn't sound right together. Some of the other names we've considered we're Noah Dylan James and Hunter but one of us tends to favor each of those more than the other, and also seem too popular although Lucas is also popular.

I like Harrison Arthur Re__. I love that the fn is after your husband and the mn is after your fil -- a great name combo, very sophisticated sounding, and with a cool nn. Nice!

I'm normally a big August fan but I don't know if I like August that much with either of the first name options (too much S sound?).

I think Lucas Alexander Re... is the best Lucas combo and Harrison Arthur is the best Harrison combo. It's marginal though as I like both Arthur and Alexander with either first name.

Out of Lucas and Harrison, I think I'm leaning towards Harrison. I really like Lucas but it is very popular. I guess it depends on how common your surname is. If it's a common surname maybe Harrison is the best option. I do like the sound of Lucas R---- thouhg. Harrison seemed more popular (in my area at least) 5 years ago. That might make it seem a bit more dated, but I guess it depends on how it plays in your area.

One thought, why not use just Harris? Harris seems much more fresh to me and sounds lovely with what I imagine your surname to be.

I actually also prefer Harris however we were trying to avoid bc its the nickname of someone one of  us dated who is in our circle of friends....dumb I know. I really love it though and not sure it should matter. Which middle name would u use with Harris?

You like Harris better and it's your husband's middle name and you'll probably call him Harris anyway.  I think you should just use Harris.

If the other Harris is still in your circle of friends, then they should be aware it's also your husband's middle name.  If not, you can make them aware.  I think that would help eliminate any potential weirdness.

There is also the nickname Harry, which works for Harrison and Harris, and would add another degree of seperation between your son and the other Harris, though I don't think you need it.

I agree totally with NotAGuestAnymore on this one. Given you both like the name, you were going to use it as a nickname anyway AND it's your husband's middle name, I'd go with Harris.  I think the other friend would understand why, if he knew it was after your husband.

With Harris I think I like Arthur.  Harris Aruther Re.... sounds very distinguished. Although Harris Alexander also sounds nice.

Just Harris is by far my favourite of all the names and is also the least popular (should that matter to you).

I agree with NotAGuestAnymore and Chimu. You both like the name and it is your husband's middle name so why not use it? I don't think the fact that it is a name of an ex should matter. If anyone actually thinks you named him after an ex, then someone can easily explain the real namesake.

Harrison is a name I've always liked and I like that it incorporates part of your husband's name.  Of the Harrison combos I like Harrison Arthur Re- best.

I like Lucas Arthur.  I think if you're going to honor a family member with the A-- middle name, you may as well just give him the actual name Arthur.  It's a nice name.  The way I'm imagining your short last name, Harrison overwhelms it.  Harrison IS a last name, and it sounds like it might sound more like a last name than your actual last name. You'll know for sure though, of course.

I like Harris a lot!  The ex in question is an ex and given he's not actually in your lives anymore, I think the name is fair game, especially since it is personally significant to your husband.  I like different syllable combinations: Harris Alexander would be my favorite, followed by August Harrison if you were willing to switch the names.  I am an August fan.

I prefer Harrison to just Harris, and kinda get the reason not to use Harris because of the ex.  After all, if you don't see him much, you won't be there to explain that it's after your husband, not him, when he hears about the baby.  Not a big deal, but...

Harrison Arthur is a great name!
