A proposed name change

My four-year-old grandson just announced that he would like to change his name to Jayden--because it would go better with his new cowboy boots.... Um, no!

Ha! I've actually been eager to see how my kids' name tastes will develop, and I imagine they'll be heavily influenced by the names they hear at school, in movies, etc. So far it's been okay -- one son (third grade) named his imaginary friend Peter; another (fifth grade) told me he's considering Joseph and Francis for his Confirmation name; another (first grade) thinks the name Stephen is so cool because one of his best buddies at school is named that. My four-year-old likes to be called Tony, after Tony Stark (IronMan), and my two-year-old often tells people his name is Buzz (Lightyear). I can deal with all those just fine, even Buzz! But please no Jaydens!

Ray is using "Raymond" at school, to distinguish himself from classmate Raymier, and the other day I was marking pocket handkerchiefs, and Daisy requested that I mark hers M "for Mawgawet".
