Anyone from Minneapolis-St Paul?

I don't really know any babies or young children in my area, so I am not sure if the names we are thinking about are really common or not. I know that several of them are more common in Minnesota than nationally, and I can look up the number of babies with each name, but that doesn't tell me whether these names are concentrated in the Cities or whether they're spread outthroughout the state.

If you are a parent of a young child (or a daycare instructor!) in the Twin Cities can you tell me whether these names are "common" in this generation -- and if so how often you  encounter them?

I'm not from your area but I'd suggest hanging out at the pool this summer or a nearby playground or go to the children's section of the library and listen up.  Also even if you don't plan on using a daycare facility you could always tour a few and pay attention to the children's names.  If you plan on nursing you could attend a LLL meeting .  Good luck!

Touring daycares and looking at the names on the cubbies is a great suggestion!

Also be sure to read the birth announcements in your local paper and you could check the websites of local hospitals.  Sometimes (with parent persmission) they will offer a link where you can see photos of babies who were recently born, they'll usually include at least first and sometimes first/middle names.

I also found running names by my OB and her nurses to be very helpful-they are in a great position to know what the trending names are.
