Baby 3 is nameless! help!

We are having our third child soon.

Our son is Gavin, daughter Regan and now we are lost for our next little boy.

Should we continue the 5 letter endog with the n?

This may be our last but may try for one more so not stuck on staying with the trend we have started.

We like uncommon but not too strange names.

help please, searching lists for weeks and nothing stands out to me.

Your pattern is not too obvious, so you can freely abandon it if you like, or continue it if the name you agree on this time happens to fit.

Some ideas that fit the pattern (avoiding repeated initials and anything that I would find confusingly similar to your older two): Aidan, Colin, Devon, Ethan, Nolan, Simon.

Some ideas that match either in length or in ending letter, but not both: Griffin, Carson, Owen, Brendan, Ryan, Wyatt, Austin, Abram, Derek, Silas, Conor.

The young Gavin I know has a little brother named Logan, but I would find that too close to your daughter's name.

I really like Griffin but my hubby vetoed.  We already have Ryan, brendan, Carson and Wyatt in the family or really close friends.

Maybe I can use Griffin as a middle name

I noticed the shared N endings, but did not notice the 5 letter theme until you pointed it out.  Perhaps any name ending in N would be a nice way to keep the theme, but not limit your options too much?

Tiernan, Owen, Colin, Lucas, Noah, Trevor, Reid, Rhys

I know a Gavin & Henry sibset, so I'll also suggest Henry.

Noah, Rhys and Reid are new additions in our lives already. I liKe Owen though

I don't think you need to keep up with the theme, no, unless it's just something you really WANT to do.

Suggestions for names that end in N:

Logan, Dylan, Ronan, Collin, Devin, Damon, Nathan, Jaron, Evan, Benton, Tristan

Names I think go nicely with Gavin and Regan but don't end in N:

Liam, Riley, Beckett, Trevor, Parker, Carter, Brody, Walker

I would not have noticed any kind of connection between those names if you hadn't pointed it out. I would choose a name you love and not worry about the number of letters or ending.

That's the trouble, I haven't found any name I love yet. With both other kids we had lists and had to narrow, now we are lost.

The name Callum does not follow your pattern (which I agree is not so obvious that you couldn't abandon it if you so choose to) but could sound nice with Gavin and Regan, and is also two syllables. Just a thought! It is growing in popularity but is a really nice, masculine name. Good luck and congratulations! :)

Callum is too popular in my area. but the 2 syllable is something I still like.

Some thoughts:

Owen, Edwin, Tobin, Soren, Corin, Quinn, Gordon, Ioan (pron. Yo-wen - it's Welsh and belongs to the terribly spunky Ioan Gruffudd), Jolyon

PS - love Regan for your girl - great Shakespeare name :)

I like a few of those names, is Rylan too close to Regan? Our last name also starts with R.

Can you say what you especially love about Gavin and Regan? Sound, meaning, personal connections, etc.? That might help us with a new direction for ideas, or may trigger an idea for you.

I love that both names are uncommon but not too strange or different. The names are easily read, not mispronounced. Both names are not easily given nick names.

I am now 10 days from due and still no names on a short list.
