Baby due in 7 weeks - Need name help :)

Hi everyone!

We are expecting our first child in early February and don't know if it's a boy or girl. Please give me opinions on our choices and anything I may just not have thought of. We would ideally have 2-3 choices for boys and girls but right now are pretty stuck. All middle names are family names. Last name is Reid.

Boys;

August James

Elliott James

Girls:

Iris Sylvia

Iris Izola

Do you have any suggestions of similar names? Iris is the only girls name we can agree on. We have liked but tossed our Oliver, Silvan, Arthur, Theodore, Alice, Ellen, Ava, Amelia, Catherine, Camille, and Vera.

Thanks!

I have no idea why it posted 3 times. It wasn't going to the right page when I clicked save. Sorry everyone! If you know how to delete a post let me know!

This forum software loves to create double (and triple) posts, dunno why, and you need moderator powers to delete things. (I've applied mine to your extra posts.)

When I think "Iris", I think of nature-inspired names, such as:

Aurora

Lily

Luna

Violet

Are any of those your style?

I like Lillian/Lily but my husband feels it's too common. He likes Violet but Violet Reid sounds like Violet Red and I just can't do that. He also liked Olive, same issue. :)

Apparently we have a penchant for colors and flowers lol

Reid doesn't just sound like red, it actually derives from the Anglo-Saxon word for red (at least one of the derivations... there are a few different one). Another issue is that Reid/Reed is also a botanical. That said, I would personally still go ahead and use Violet Reid without concern.

August and Elliott are both fantastic but I think for me August wins.  Iris is also beautiful.  I like both Iris and Sylvia but I'm not sure about them together.  They kind of smush.  Izola is interesting.  I like the flow of Iris Izola.
