Baby name poll

Hi all,

We are expecting a girl in March. Wondering what people think of the following names:

Amelia Kate (“Mille“ as a potential nickname for Amelia)

Lila Elizabeth (pronounced LI- lah)

Millie Morgan

I quite like all of them but Amelia Kate and Lila Elizabeth are my favourites.

Amelia Kate would be my pick - perfect flow

Lila Elizabeth is a bit of a tongue twister

Millie Morgan - sorry dont like,  I prefer a longer version and not 2 MM names

I think you have some good options there. :)

Amelia Kate-Pretty. I like the nickname option of Millie for Amelia and the 3-1 syllable pairing of first and middle makes a pleasing flow to me (although the flow of first and middle name is not really very important unless you plan on using both names fairly often it can be considered a bonus).

Lila Elizabeth-I like this too. Short L-prominent names just always feel happy to me for some reason which makes me really like them (the majority of my favourite names fit this pattern). I don't find the combination problematic to say at all and again wouldn't be overly worried about the flow anyway, especially if the middle has some extra meaning for you (eg if it's an honour name). I do think Lila is more likely to have occasional mispronunciations/misspellings than Amelia, just because the 'LI-lah'/'LEE-la'/'LAY-la' names seem to be fairly ambiguous on how they are spelt, but I don't think it would be so frequent as to put me off using the name.

Both Amelia and Lila have a similar vibe to me, kind of classic-but-spunky; I can equally imagine a little girl called them sitting at a prim tea party or running through the woods climbing trees (I tend to judge names by picturing what kind of book character I think they would suit, lol).

Millie Morgan-Alliteration is always going to be divisive. Although, once again, it's worth remembering that as Morgan would be the middle name it's likely to be almost entirely hidden away and so not really an issue. I actually quite like the sound of Millie Morgan; for me it hits more on the superhero end of the alliterative spectrum than the silly end. What I do wonder though is as you're happy with the idea of Millie as a nickname for Amelia why you wouldn't make it Amelia Morgan and have Millie as a nickname here too? While I like Millie, and by no means think that you must have a "full" name on the birth certificate, it is firmly in the cutesy nickname category imo and your daughter may well appreciate having a more formal name to use as she grows up. If you disliked the longer versions that would be a different story but as Amelia is already on the shortlist I'd advise using it here even if you call her Millie 99% of the time.

I like all three options. Amelia Kate called Millie is my favourite for you, because it would, presumably, allow you to use 2 names you love, Amelia and Millie, as opposed to just one.

Amelia Kate is by far my favorite <3

Echoing other commenters: Amelia nicknamed Millie would be a twofer for you and a bonus for your daughter (because she wouldn't be permanently saddled with a cutesy diminutive). I don't know whether Kate or Morgan is the better middle to go with it: does either contender have more significance to you?

Lila Elizabeth is almost-but-not-quite "same name twice", and I vacillate between /LIE-la/ and /LEE-la/ for the pronunciation, but I do love the name Elizabeth in any position... Any interest in Amelia Elizabeth? :-)

Congratulations on your baby girl!

From your combinations my favorite is Amelia Kate, but I'm not a fan of Kate. Don't like Lila, prefer Leyla or Leila, maybe you would like Leah, or Leia. Elizabeth is definately one of my favorite girl names. Millie sonds like a nickname to me, and sorry but I don't like Morgan as a middle name.

I agree with what someone wrote, what about Amelia Elizabeth? That sounds beautiful!

I love Amelia and Lila.  Lila is my favorite of your names. I don't love Lila  Elizabeth but I love Lila Kate if that is an option. Amelia Kate is beautiful too. Millie Morgan doesnt appeal to me.

Leah Elizabeth is nice and doesnt have the extra L as Lila does, which I think is a bit bumpy and Leah easier to spell and pronounce

or Amelia Elizabeth - although pretty long

I prefer Megan to Morgan much pretty - Megan Kate or Megan Elizabeth

Camille or Camilla Kate or Elizabeth would be nice too

Emily Kate, Emily Elizabeth are a few more options

I will echo above posters and say that I much prefer the first two. I dislike alliteration myself, so Millie Morgan is a bit of a mouthful IMO. If I were picking for myself, I would say Lila Elizabeth. Although I do know a few Lilas, I know FAR more little Amelias- it is a very popular name in my area. I do love the nn Millie, though.
