Fill In The Blank

I need middle name suggestions for Freya ? Bolton. My son's name is Bryce. I wanted to use something similar to honor my grandmother, Evelyn. Help!

As I've been advised on more than one occasion, if you're planning to honour in the middle spot, nothing quite does it like the actual name of the honoured person.

Freya Evelyn Bolton would be lovely!

If you don't like the name Evelyn and want an alternative, I suggest Evangeline, Evanora and the classic Eve.

Awesome name! I agree with Seren that unless you have a pressing reason to avoid Evelyn, that's exactly what I'd suggest!

I agree that Evelyn is the obvious way to go.  BUT.... nothing wrong with tweaking it a bit.

I really wanted to middle-name my daughter after my beloved grandmother but honestly just didn't really like the name itself.  I went with the Irish form of the name which I liked much better, and since she was of Irish descent it seemed especially fitting.

Anyway, a few other Evelyn spin-offs.... I love Avalon.  Lyn would also work.  You could even reverse the spelling to Nyleve if you want something a bit more out-there.

I agree with the others and think you're lucky to have a grandmother with a nice name! Another variation I've always liked is Evelina.

There's also Everly. Not really the style of a lot of people on this board I think, but of the modern, popular names it's probably my favourite. Bonus points: it has the same rhythm as Evelyn.

I'm considering Freya too!

I agree that Freya Evelyn is great. I also really like a simple Freya Eve.

Some other forms/connections:

Eileen, Evangeline (not technically the same name, but the connection i think still works) or Evanna?

Freya Lynn has Evelyn as a part of it (chop off the bottom of the y).

That's really creative and fun, especially if Evelyn is being avoided because of overlap to another family member who goes by Evie!

Thanks!  And thanks for your comment about my myth summaries as well!

We already have a Evelyn in the family who goes by Evie.

I also think that Freya Evelyn is beautiful! i wouldn't worry too much about another Evelyn in the family unless you plan on calling your daughter by her middle name. My family has several repeated names between branches of the family and it was fun as a kid to have a name connection with a relative!

Other posters have already offered up some great suggestions for alternatives to Evelyn. I would also suggest looking to your grandmother's middle name or maiden name (or favorite flower, color, etc .) as a possibility for an honor name.
